The iOS 10 update came out last year, and Apple has already released two significant updates since then, the latest of which is iOS 10.2. If you’re on the fence about upgrading to 10.2, don’t think twice about it – the newest release has several bug fixes and includes new features that will make an upgrade worthwhile. Here are the new features in iOS 10.2 that provide a higher quality experience: The new Video App The new Video app was designed for both iOS and Apple TV. It lets you find new content on iTunes and other streaming services (Netflix not supported). You can now watch your favourite shows with it. Message screen effects You can now send two screen effect messages to people: ‘Send with Love' and ‘Send with Celebration'. These effects (long press 'send' button), when received on the phone, display full-screen sparkly, cheerful ‘love’ or ‘celebration’ imagery. Emoji Additions Apple has added a whole host of new emojis and updated some old ones to make them more modern. There’s support for male and female profession emojis. Some examples include a clown, shark, and butterfly. Better Wallpapers There are some new wallpaper photos with a black background and a sphere in the middle, which featured in Apple’s iPhone 7 plus advertisements. They look beautiful on the upgraded display. Save camera settings You can now save the camera configuration. So the next time you close the app and start it up again, it will remember your favourite settings. This feature is useful if you want to take quick shots. SOS You can press the power button five times rapidly now to directly call emergency services (in limited countries). This feature can be turned off, though, if it’s going to be a problem. 10.3 Beta Apple has also released a developer 10.3 beta. The most noteworthy addition to this update is the ‘Find My Earpods’ feature that lets you find your Bluetooth pods if they are in range. If you own an older version of iOS (9 and before) and own an old iPhone, though, it might be better if you don’t upgrade as it could slow your phone down and drain the battery.
